Cape Breton University (CBU) is a public university located in Nova Scotia, Canada that mostly grants undergraduate degrees. As a young institution, it is the only post-secondary degree-granting institution within the Cape Breton Regional Municipality and on Cape Breton Island. CBU was built through the grassroots collaboration, advocacy, and spirit of Cape Bretons over the last seventy years. Founded in 1951, it started as a satellite campus of Xavier Junior College under the St. Francis Xavier University.

- Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) – refer to British-based Curriculum with 65% or higher score.
- IELTS Academic (and IELTS Indicator) score of 6.5 with no band below 6.0
For Postgraduate:
- Completed a Bachelor degree at an accredited university.
- Obtained an overall undergraduate average of B or higher

The university offers an undergraduate degree program, postgraduate degree program, diploma program, and certification courses. The academic structure of the institute includes a number of subjects that are categorized into various departments. Some of the major subjects are Anthropology, Dramatic literature, English, Folklore, Celtic Culture, Mathematics, Legal Studies, Information Technology, Philosophy, History, Political Science, Environmental Studies, and Religious Studies.
